The modules are designed to be used in the classroom, virtual classroom, bedside, or external location, like in a gallery. Prep times included indicate the work you might need to due prior to facilitating the module, such as, prepare a slide deck. MODULE 1

The Personal Responses Tour

This session represents an entry point to discussing anti-racism in health professions education. It is designed to be universally accessible, to get all participants on the same page via a common language, to explore definitions and differences, and to provide ways to immediately contextualize and personalize relevant topics.

MODULE 2

Microaggressions Causing Macrotrauma in the Workplace

In this session, participants will explore the concepts of microaggressions- subtle seemingly daily slights that either communicate or implicitly confer hostility towards individuals from marginalized populations.

Microaggressions Towards Patients

During the session, learners will pivot away from their own experiences with microaggressions and their impact on the medical community/workplace and instead focus on the microaggressions that we confer upon patients.

MODULE 4

A History of the Present Illness: Exploring Injustices Perpetuated by the Healthcare System

Participants will explore the current issues around racism in healthcare through the lens of the past and discuss how an awareness of medicine’s historical complicity in racism is necessary to studying and deconstructing racism in medicine’s present and future.

Cultural Humility in the Medical Arena

In this session, participants will engage in individual and group-discussion based reflective activities, followed by a brief didactic, to explore the concept of cultural humility.

Stigmatizing Language in the Chart

Participants will explore how patient charts influence clinicians’ perceptions, navigate bias in electronic health records, reflect upon sources of bias in charting, and describe best practices in charting

MODULE 8

Systemic Racism and Impact on the Health of a Community

This module comprises multiple sessions; it can be conducted in individual sessions (50 minutes to 120 minutes) or as a half-day workshop. Participants will reflect on the complex intersections of systemic racism, healthcare systems, and communities.
